Welcome to Salt River National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve home to Anchor Dive Center featuring Salt River East and West Walls among many other dive sites, and Caribbean Adventure Tours offering daily kayak tours that feature Indian Burial Grounds, the largest Mangrove Forest in the Virgin Islands, and Columbus’ Landing. Few places engage the imagination so completely, drawing visitors into the spirit of the place, its beauty and sanctity.

The Virgin Islands are often called a tropical paradise. Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve was created in 1992 as part of the National Park System. Salt River Bay is a living museum on St. Croix. It is a dynamic, tropical ecosystem with Prehistoric and Colonial-era archeological sites and ruins. It is home to the Virgin Islands’ largest stand of red, white, black and buttonwood mangroves, which provide a protected breeding ground and sanctuary for countless species of birds, fish, iguanas and sea turtles.

St. Croix’s most requested dive sites are located inside Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve, meaning they are a short 5 minute boat ride from Anchor Dive Center. While diving the walls you will also enjoy a variety of formations including caves, pinnacles, swim-throughs and trenches. Salt River canyon splits the north shore wall with an ancient river bed that reaches a depth of 1000 feet. The East and West Walls of the canyon both offer very different topographies and sea life.
